Responsibilities

  • As a Software Engineer at Pattern Data, you will be involved throughout the product lifecycle - from idea generation, design, and prototyping to execution and shipping.
  • You'll help build products deployed to legal teams at leading US law firms and play a significant role in the growth of the business and the engineering team.
  • Architect, design, and implement backend services including our core API that powers our data processing and application
  • Promote technical design and coding standards for our platform and product roadmaps
  • Continually look for ways to improve our product's architecture, whether through direct changes or building tools, components, etc
  • Experience designing, building, and maintaining backend APIs, preferably in a team lead role
  • We help leading law firms automate case analysis, accelerate settlement decisions, and manage high-volume inventories that were traditionally manual and time-intensive.

Skills

  • Scala, TypeScript, PostgresQL, GraphQL, Elasticsearch, AWS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or related practical experience
  • The ability to analyze a business need and select the most appropriate technical solution
  • Experience working in or with start up teams
  • Production experience or demonstrated interest in strongly-typed modern functional programming
  • Experience with data structures, database optimization, cloud infrastructure, and message queues
  • 8+ years experience in Software Engineering
  • Curiosity and enthusiasm for tackling tough problems and delivering effective solutions
  • Great communication skills and can work seamlessly with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Compensation

  • The estimated base salary range for this role is $160,000-$220,000 per year, plus bonus and benefits.
  • At Pattern Data, our compensation philosophy is built around fairness, transparency, and market alignment.
  • Base salary represents just one part of our total compensation package, which also includes performance-based incentives, comprehensive benefits, and other rewards.
  • Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including skills, experience, qualifications, geographical location and internal equity across the team.

  • If the scope of the role changes during the hiring process, we'll update and communicate any adjusted range accordingly.
