  • The role reports to the Dean of the College of Arts and Letters and the College Administrative Assistant.

Responsibilities

  • Departmental Support and Operations
  • Serve as a professional and welcoming point of contact for students, faculty, staff, alumni, vendors, and community partners.
  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Departments of English and Writing and Languages and Linguistics, including support for department chairs, faculty, and affiliated programs.
  • Maintain current knowledge of university policies, departmental procedures, and catalog requirements to assist students, parents, faculty, and staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of departmental, college, and university priorities.
  • Saunders Writing Center and University of Tampa Press Support
  • Provide administrative support to the Saunders Writing Center and University of Tampa Press.
  • Support additional operational needs of both units as assigned.
  • Academic Administration and Personnel Support
  • Support the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and contract processing of new faculty hires.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams).
  • Ability to learn university systems including Workday and other administrative software.
  • Experience with financial processing, budgeting, or purchasing.
  • Experience supporting multiple supervisors or departments.
  • Experience with shipping, inventory management, or publication support.
  • Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required to support special events.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of progressively responsible administrative support experience.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet competing deadlines.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to customer service.
  • Willingness to embrace new technologies and continuously improve administrative processes.
  • Preferred
  • Experience in higher education.
