About the role
- This is a full-time (35 hours a week), bargaining unit position that falls under the non-exempt CWA contract.
- The position is based at the ILR NYC Extension office located at 570 Lexington Ave, New York, NY 10022.
- The NYC Conference Center operates Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm, Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Saturday, as needed, from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and update inventory of spaces, furnishings, and equipment.
- Interface with building users for the proper operation of office equipment.
- Manage facility infrastructure, monitoring heating, cooling, and electrical systems.
- Serve as the main contact with building management, recommending necessary repairs.
- Provide media assistant support and arrange furnishings for special events.
- Register participants and guests using building management guest systems.
- Communicate with mail recipients, manage inventory, and update mailing procedures.
- Coordinate building evacuation and emergency management logistics.
- Operational Support:
Requirements
- Based on the business needs of the office, evening and weekend work will be required with advanced notice.
- Participate in projects and complete university-required compliance training.
- Prior experience in facilities or custodial services.
- Must have a record of excellent attendance and dependability.
- Perform self-directed work to accomplish goals required.
Nice to have
- Trade certification desirable.
- Experience with Windows desktop systems, classroom projection systems, setting up Zoom (or similar) on-line meetings, and presentation software.
- Familiarity with emergency procedure protocols.
