About the role
- The primary purpose of this position is to analyze samples using GC/MS, methodologies.
- Analyze air and vapor samples following EPA methodologies and laboratory SOPs.
- Identify and report quality problems to the supervisor or QA department.

Requirements
- Possess a general knowledge of organic chemistry fundamentals
- ability to understand terminology and principals in order to comply with analytical methods.
- experience with or ability to learn industry-specific software such as Target, Chemstation or MassHunter and our laboratory information management system (LIMS) in a timely manner.
- Must be organized, detail oriented, and possess excellent problem solving capabilities
- Ability to take ownership for meeting goals and objectives
- Proficient English verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate well with peers, supervisors and management in a professional manner.
- Maintenance and troubleshooting of instruments and development of new methods or modifications to procedures will also be required.
- Analyze and report QC samples as required.
- The ability to stand for intervals of up to 8 hours while working;
- To be eligible to work at ALS you must be a Citizen or Permanent Resident of the country you are applying for, or either hold or be able to obtain, a valid working visa.
Nice to have
- A degree in a scientific field preferred (chemistry, biology, etc)
- GC and or GC/MS experience in a testing laboratory preferred.
