About the role

  • The primary purpose of this position is to analyze samples using GC/MS, methodologies.
  • Analyze air and vapor samples following EPA methodologies and laboratory SOPs.
  • Identify and report quality problems to the supervisor or QA department.

Requirements

  • Possess a general knowledge of organic chemistry fundamentals
  • ability to understand terminology and principals in order to comply with analytical methods.
  • experience with or ability to learn industry-specific software such as Target, Chemstation or MassHunter and our laboratory information management system (LIMS) in a timely manner.
  • Must be organized, detail oriented, and possess excellent problem solving capabilities
  • Ability to take ownership for meeting goals and objectives
  • Proficient English verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate well with peers, supervisors and management in a professional manner.
  • Maintenance and troubleshooting of instruments and development of new methods or modifications to procedures will also be required.
  • Analyze and report QC samples as required.
  • The ability to stand for intervals of up to 8 hours while working;
  • To be eligible to work at ALS you must be a Citizen or Permanent Resident of the country you are applying for, or either hold or be able to obtain, a valid working visa.

Nice to have

  • A degree in a scientific field preferred (chemistry, biology, etc)
  • GC and or GC/MS experience in a testing laboratory preferred.
