About the role
- Type One Energy is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Materials Engineer with general metallurgical experience including materials testing and characterization.
- As a materials engineer, you will play a vital role in supporting Type One Energy's materials program across various components and materials systems.
- This will be accomplished by executing materials testing and characterization campaigns for specialty fusion materials as well as assisting in material selection and lifetime evaluations.
Responsibilities
- Our FusionDirect development program pursues the lowest-risk, shortest-schedule path to a fusion power plant over the coming decade, using a partner-intensive and capital-efficient strategy.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree with 2-3 years of experience or a masters degree and 1-2 years of experience in Materials Science, Nuclear Engineering, or a similar field.
- Experience planning and executing materials testing and characterization campaigns.
- Familiarity with fusion relevant structural and armour materials and their environments.
- Ability to write clear and concise technical reports.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and propose innovative solutions.

- Ideally the candidate will have experience with fusion relevant materials and their challenges.
