About the role
- Serves as a technical resource for networking, security, and infrastructure initiatives while assisting with the protection, availability, reliability, and performance of institutional technology services.

- SUPERVISION OF PERSONNEL: This position generally does supervise employees.
Responsibilities
- Provides Tier II support and assists with Tier III escalation activities.
- Maintains network topology diagrams, documentation, inventories, and technical standards.
- Supports infrastructure projects involving network expansion, modernization, and technology refresh initiatives.
- Supports identity and access management processes including account provisioning, access reviews, multi-factor authentication, and privileged access controls.
- Collaborates with TAMUS Cybersecurity Shared Services to implement security controls, policies, standards, and best practices.
- Supports implementation of infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and modernization projects.
- Maintains technical documentation related to infrastructure systems, configurations, and operational procedures.
- Project Support & Customer Engagement
- Provides technical consultation and support to faculty, staff, students, and external partners.
- Collaborates with vendors and service providers to resolve technical issues and support project initiatives.
Requirements
- Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

- Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three years of related experience.
- Knowledge of troubleshooting and problem-solving, client relations skills, requirement assessment and analysis, project management methodology, context and interrelationships, and proficiency in Information Technology Interface Library (ITIL)
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Nice to have
- Experience with Microsoft, Palo Alto, VMware, Cisco, Entra ID, Ruckus, or Intune technologies.
- Certifications such as Security+, Network+, CCNA, CCNP, Palo Alto, or ITIL.
- Knowledge of enterprise networking concepts including routing, switching, wireless communications, firewalls, and network security.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles including vulnerability management, incident response, security monitoring, risk management, and access control.
- Knowledge of infrastructure technologies including servers, virtualization, cloud platforms, storage systems, backup solutions, and endpoint management.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies, IT service management practices, and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) principles.
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
