About the role

  • The Machinist II will be primarily responsible for operating manual lathe and mill machines to produce high-precision aerospace components.
  • This role involves performing advanced equipment setup and maintenance, using precision measurement tools, fabricating fixtures, and adhering to shop safety and best practices.
  • The Machinist II will also play a key role in process improvement and troubleshooting machining issues.

Responsibilities

  • Additionally, you will follow 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness protocols, collaborate with team members to improve processes and achieve production goals.
  • You will maintain accurate records of machining operations and part inspections, troubleshoot and resolve machining issues, and support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and quality.
  • We deliver mission-proven technologies to our customers that safeguard our nation, protect space-based assets and enable space exploration.

Requirements

  • Typically 2+ years of related experience.
  • Basic proficiency with manual mill and manual lathe machines.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and blueprints.

Nice to have

  • Certification: Machinist certification or related certification.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or machining environment.
  • Familiar with CNC programming such as G and M-code.
  • Basic understanding of CAD/CAM software for designing and programming CNC operations.
  • Knowledge of material and machining characteristics of aerospace-grade alloys.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills and a willingness to learn and adapt.
  • Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and other quality control methodologies.

  • Your actual base compensation will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness.
