About the role
- The registered nurse utilizes delegation and critical‑thinking skills to provide quality service through a team‑oriented, collaborative approach to patient care.
- Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Responsibilities: In the PACU setting, the RN is responsible for the immediate post‑operative care of patients recovering from anesthesia and surgical or procedural interventions.
- Duties include continuous assessment and monitoring of airway patency, respiratory and cardiovascular status, level of consciousness, pain, and surgical sites.
Responsibilities
- Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Completes and documents age-specific assessments to support development of care plans.
- Collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and adjust care plans.
- Advocates for patients and supports their rights and psychosocial needs.
- Implements strategies to improve patient outcomes and resource utilization.
- Serves as a role model and supports development of peers and team members.
- Manages resources, prioritizes tasks, and adapts to changing patient care needs.
- Supports orientation and training of new employees.
- Maintains confidentiality and complies with regulatory and organizational standards.

Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia required or eligibility to obtain licensure required.
- AHA BLS-HCP required.
- Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, or NRP may be required based on assigned work area.
- Graduate of a State Board of Nursing approved program required.
- Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Current Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia required or eligibility to obtain licensure required.
- Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required.
- Occasional shifts from 0645-1915 may be required based on unit needs.
Compensation
- $33.52 - $50.28 Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience.
