About the role
- The Department of Literature, Journalism, Writing, and Languages is seeking candidates for an adjunct teaching position in modern languages.
- The University is seeking an individual capable of excellent teaching with teaching experience and fluency in French, German, or Chinese.
- begin August 2026 and will include teaching a wide variety of elementary modern language courses including French, German, and Chinese.
Responsibilities

Requirements
- If hired, official transcripts will be required from all undergraduate and graduate universities attended before a contract is issued.
- Provide names and contacts for 3 references, at least one professional contact who can speak to your teaching potential (references will only be contacted if you are advanced as a finalist candidate)

Nice to have
- Master's degree in a specified discipline.
- Doctorate preferred.
- Evidence of a commitment to excellence in (undergraduate/graduate) teaching.
- A minimum of one year teaching experience and demonstrated effectiveness in teaching students from diverse backgrounds is preferred.
Compensation
- PLNU adjunct pay: Using a 3-unit full semester appointment as a pay guide, the adjunct pay range is $5,013 - $6,684.
- The units will determine the actual salary.
