About the role

  • ONCAP is seeking a highly motivated Associate to join its investment team in Toronto.
  • This role offers the opportunity to work across the full investment lifecycle, from origination through to exit, and to gain exposure to strategic and operational initiatives within portfolio companies.
  • This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic, collaborative team, investing out of ONCAP's $1.3 billion fund focused on mid-market opportunities across North America.

Responsibilities

  • Build and prepare financial and operating models (e.g., DCF, LBO), conduct valuation benchmarking, and prepare investment memoranda.
  • Support due diligence processes, including coordination with external advisors on legal, commercial, and market workstreams.
  • Support portfolio company management teams on strategic planning, M&A, operational improvements, and capital structure optimization.
  • Collaborate with team members to foster a high-performing and inclusive team culture.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in investment banking, private equity, or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business, economics, or a related discipline.
  • Strong financial modeling and valuation expertise with demonstrated investment judgment.
  • High degree of professionalism, maturity, and interpersonal effectiveness.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Deep intellectual curiosity and interest in business, finance, and investing.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • A proactive, self-starter mindset with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
