About the role

  • We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Water Design Engineer in the Washington D.C. area to join our growing team. This role is ideal for an engineer with a strong foundation in design who is eager to contribute to meaningful infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in the planning, design, and delivery of municipal water, wastewater, and stormwater systems, with a focus on producing high-quality, practical engineering solutions.

  • We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Water Design Engineer in the Washington D.C. area to join our growing team.

Responsibilities

  • Support engineering design and consulting efforts for water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects.
  • Prepare hydraulic and hydrologic calculations to assist in system evaluations and design development.
  • Utilize GIS and AutoCAD to develop, modify, and maintain project drawings, maps, dashboards and technical documentation.
  • Support infrastructure condition assessments and contribute to rehabilitation planning efforts.
  • Assist with permitting, cost estimating, and preparation of construction contract documents.
  • Participate as a team member, supporting design tasks and continuing to build hands-on design experience.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment and support knowledge sharing across the group.

Requirements

  • 3-6 years of experience in water, wastewater, and/or stormwater engineering consulting.
  • Strong proficiency in GIS and AutoCAD with experience supporting engineering design and documentation.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with clients and clearly present technical information both verbally and in writing.
  • Foundational understanding of infrastructure design, including pipelines, manholes, pump systems, and grading plans.
  • Understanding of soil conditions and erosion and sediment control practices.
  • EIT required
  • Detail-oriented, collaborative, and client-focused with strong problem-solving abilities.

  • T.Y. Lin International is committed to pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $81,200-$121,800 annually for this position and local market. Nice to have

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • PE license or ability to obtain within one year strongly preferred.

Compensation

  • As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $81,200-$121,800 annually for this position and local market.
