About the role

  • Reporting to the Director of External Relations, the Assistant Director of Programming and External Relations will play a key role in supporting the professional development of graduate students and postdocs from across the University of Chicago.
  • The AD will administer programs that help graduate students and postdocs connect their research and academic training to external audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Builds, maintains, and tracks relationships with employers and alumni.
  • Contributes to other team-wide initiatives in support of graduate students' and postdocs' professional development.
  • Develops original content for career-related publications and assists with the editing and distribution of Career Services communications materials.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Requirements

  • include a college or university degree in related field.

Nice to have

  • Advanced degree in an academic field strongly preferred (Ph.D., M.S., M.A.).

Skills

  • Knowledge of presentation tools, including Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of basic data analysis tools, including Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of basic design platforms, including Canva.
  • Knowledge of CSM or CRM platforms, including Monday.com.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent event and project management skills.
  • Excellent cultural competency to interact successfully with a diverse student body.

Compensation

  • $59,000.00 - $75,000.00 The included pay rate or range represents the University's good faith estimate of the possible compensation offer for this role at the time of posting.
