About the role
- T he Laboratory Analyst is responsible for performing analysis in various matrices in the inorganic department using gravimetric, UV-VIS and flow injection instrumentation.
- During peak sample periods to cover extended hours of operation and week-end shifts.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate data and troubleshoot problems with instruments, support equipment, and sample preparation processes.
- Create work lists, workgroups, sample tables and other computer tasks as assigned.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Requirements
- Ability to lift to 30 lbs./14 kg on a regular basis and carry for short distances.
- Ability to sit or stand for a full shift.
- Ability to climb stairs.
- Wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as dust masks, gloves etc., when required.
- Excellent English communication skills (auditory, verbal, written, and reading) as required.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) at an intermediate level.
- Good organizational skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines such as Turnaround Times (TAT) and holding requirements.
- Analytical and process-oriented skills with the ability to critically think in ambiguous situations.
- Prepare and standardize reagents and solutions as required.
- Clean all glassware and other containers required for sample preparation and analysis.
Nice to have
- Completion of B.Sc. or Technical Diploma in Chemistry or a related discipline (required).
- 1-3 years' experience in an analytical laboratory or related field experience (asset).
- Previous experience with wet chemistry techniques or other laboratory instrumentation would be considered an asset.
Skills
- Intermediate computer skills.
- Accurate and efficient data entry skills.
