About the role

  • T he Laboratory Analyst is responsible for performing analysis in various matrices in the inorganic department using gravimetric, UV-VIS and flow injection instrumentation.
  • During peak sample periods to cover extended hours of operation and week-end shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate data and troubleshoot problems with instruments, support equipment, and sample preparation processes.
  • Create work lists, workgroups, sample tables and other computer tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift to 30 lbs./14 kg on a regular basis and carry for short distances.
  • Ability to sit or stand for a full shift.
  • Ability to climb stairs.
  • Wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as dust masks, gloves etc., when required.
  • Excellent English communication skills (auditory, verbal, written, and reading) as required.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) at an intermediate level.
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines such as Turnaround Times (TAT) and holding requirements.
  • Analytical and process-oriented skills with the ability to critically think in ambiguous situations.
  • Prepare and standardize reagents and solutions as required.
  • Clean all glassware and other containers required for sample preparation and analysis.

Nice to have

  • Completion of B.Sc. or Technical Diploma in Chemistry or a related discipline (required).
  • 1-3 years' experience in an analytical laboratory or related field experience (asset).
  • Previous experience with wet chemistry techniques or other laboratory instrumentation would be considered an asset.

  • Intermediate computer skills.
  • Accurate and efficient data entry skills.
