Responsibilities

  • Create reference implementations and reusable patterns for common integration needs such as OAuth, webhooks, retries, idempotency, error handling, and observability.
  • Run technical working sessions with partners, translate complex requirements into clear decisions and action plans, and communicate platform boundaries accurately.
  • Work closely with Public API Engineering and Product to identify developer friction, validate proposed API designs with realistic use cases, and deliver concise, evidence-backed feedback.
  • Own a multi-surface developer journey or a portfolio of partner integrations from design through delivery, operational readiness, and iteration.
  • Improve developer self-service by using support questions, integration telemetry, and qualitative feedback to prioritize what should become documentation, an SDK feature, a product enhancement, or a platform request.
  • Review designs and code; mentor teammates; and elevate engineering quality in both internal systems and partner-facing artifacts.
  • Collaborate with Security, Support, and other stakeholders to ensure integrations are safe, observable, and supportable.

Requirements

  • You are a senior product engineer who enjoys solving hard problems where software, APIs, and real developer workflows meet.
  • Experience designing reliable integration behavior: retries, idempotency, asynchronous workflows, data contracts, monitoring, and incident and debugging practices.
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production systems.
  • Strong experience consuming, integrating with, or building HTTP APIs
  • practical understanding of OAuth 2.0/OIDC, API authentication, tokens and scopes, webhooks, pagination, rate limits, and error handling.
  • Clear technical writing and the ability to explain architecture and tradeoffs to engineers, product partners, and external developers.
  • Evidence of delivering customer-facing or developer-facing experiences with a high bar for usability and documentation.
  • Strong collaboration skills and comfort working across Engineering, Product, Partnerships and Sales, Support, and Security.

Nice to have

  • Experience maintaining an SDK, developer portal, API documentation, CLI, sample application, open source libraries, or an integration marketplace.
  • Experience in regulated, high-trust, or data-sensitive domains.
  • Experience with OpenAPI, API-client generation, event-driven systems, or workflow engines.
  • Experience working directly with enterprise technical stakeholders.
  • Technologies and Experience
  • Our work spans TypeScript/JavaScript, Go, Ruby, AWS, containers, relational data stores, observability tooling, API specifications such as OpenAPI, and OAuth/OIDC.
  • You do not need every technology on day one
  • you should be able to learn quickly, select the right tool for the problem, and write well-tested, well-documented software.

Skills

  • Experience with backend and/or full-stack web development in one or more modern languages such as TypeScript, Go, Ruby, or Python.

Compensation

  • The base wage range for this position based in our New York City Office is targeted at $188,000 - $242,000 per year.
