About the role
- Orla operates the Camino Rojo Oxide Gold Mine, a gold and silver open-pit heap leach mine, located in Zacatecas State, Central Mexico.
- This low-cost operation is 100% owned by Orla, covers over 139,000 hectares, and includes a large sulfide mineral endowment located beneath the oxide resources.
- This project is part our larger South Carlin Complex which includes a prospective land package.
Responsibilities
- Implement effective grade control strategies to optimize head grades and minimize dilution.
- Review and authorize development prints and stope designs, verifying geological positioning, tones, and grade accuracy.
- Manage the stope closure process, providing final sign-offs to facilitate timely backfilling operations.
- Design, schedule, and manage diamond drilling programs.
- Issue drill designs and maintain strict cost control over the drilling budget.
- Manage PAG/NAG material segregation and environmental sampling to ensure compliance with provincial regulations.
Requirements
- Ability to work in an underground environment, including lifting/carrying up to 75 lbs and reaching/climbing as required.
- Must be able to acquire a PGO (Ontario)designation transfer within 30 days of hire).
- Proficiency in Deswik (MDM/CAD), AcQuire, and, Power BI is highly desirable.
- Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite is required.
- 4-year B.Sc. degree in Geology or Earth Sciences.
Nice to have
- 5+ years of underground production geology experience (Gold/Precious metals preferred).
Compensation
- The salary for this position is $150,000 to $160,000 per year, depending on skills, experience, and qualifications.
- This role is eligible to participate in the Company's annual short term incentive program.
- The target annual bonus for this position is 25% of base salary, subject to individual and company performance.
