About the role

  • Specifically, this position is responsible for various financial functions including account formation, accounting, billing and collections, budget management and close-out.
  • Interpret Facilities and Administration (F&A) costs for accurate application. - Ensure post-award processes such as budget close-outs are complete and accurate.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.
  • Perform comprehensive and independent review of various clinical trial documents such as budgets, contracts, protocols and consent forms for compliance and billing purposes, and review accounts for discrepancies and reconcile differences.
  • Participate in team(s) involved in the design of general ledger accounting and clinical trial tracking data processing systems
  • Development, implement, modify and document recordkeeping and accounting systems, including VELOS and Workday, making use of current computer technology.
  • Partner with research study teams and principal investigators to maintain and enhance clinical trial accounting policies and procedures.
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting legal contracts/documents.

Requirements

  • 4 years of related experience in accounting or finance.
  • Prior budgetary experience required.
  • Initiate project setup and maintenance of clinical trials in the University's accounting system to ensure compliance with policies and regulations required by agencies and sponsors.
  • Prepare invoices as required by the Sponsor and manage the collection process of outstanding receivables.

Compensation

  • $60,800.00 - $91,200.00 Minimum
  • $60,800.00 Midpoint
  • $76,000.00 Maximum
  • The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking.
  • A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding.
  • At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.

  • Education may substitute for experience on a year for year basis
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business-related field.
  • Three years experience in a medical environment.
