About the role

  • The position provides a great introduction to the IP practice at a large law firm.
  • Many former IP Clerks have gone on to attend law school, become patent agents, or to work as paralegals.
  • Candidate should also be flexible to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Manages incoming US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and foreign Patent Office correspondence
  • Maintains and organizes client files and electronic databases
  • Performs administrative tasks for IP department
  • Assists with other department activities as needed, and performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

  • Good working knowledge of biology, chemistry, and/or molecular biology
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Computer proficiency in Windows-based software and Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook and Adobe Acrobat
  • Exceptional computer skills with the ability to learn new software applications quickly

Nice to have

  • Prior life-science experience is a plus

Compensation

  • $29.54 - $30.20 per hour
  • Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
