About the role
- The Assistant Medical Director (AMD) works collaboratively with the Medical Director to achieve clinical, operational, and quality improvement goals and strategic initiatives.
- The AMD will serve as the Medical Director at times when the Medical Director is unavailable.
- Provide timely feedback to providers following all peer and case reviews. - Act as a key participant in root cause analyses and corrective action plans following significant events.
Requirements
- Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), Pediatric Residency and Fellowship Trained in Pediatric Emergency Medicine.
- Licensure: Active, unrestricted medical licensure issued by the State of Tennessee Department of Health.
- Board Certification: Board Certified Pediatric Emergency Medicine.
- Skills: Strong communication skills, leadership experience, and abilities to guide a pediatric department's mission, quality and goals
- Partner with the Medical Director and departmental leadership to cultivate a collaborative, inclusive, and mission-driven culture.
- Partner with nursing and administrative leadership to optimize patient flow, throughput, and resource utilization.
- Clinical Quality and Patient Safety

- Leadership & Administrative Experience, 3+ years preferred.
Skills
- In collaboration with the Medical Director, review departmental operational metrics and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Review and monitor key clinical performance indicators.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency, quality, and patient outcomes.
- Participate in strategic planning and growth initiatives for pediatric emergency services.
- Participate in departmental quality improvement (QI) and patient safety initiatives.
- Assist in development and implementation of evidence-based clinical pathways and best practices.
- Participate in peer review and case review activities. Provide timely feedback to providers following all peer and case reviews.
- Act as a key participant in root cause analyses and corrective action plans following significant events.
- Mentor new clinicians and facilitate professional development opportunities.
- Foster a positive departmental culture focused on teamwork, accountability, and excellence.
