About the role

  • Axos Bank Target Range: $100,000/Yr. - $125,000/Yr.
  • Actual starting pay will vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
  • About This Job Axos Bank is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Supervisory Senior Underwriter to join our team, specializing in Single Family Residential loans including Construction and Entity Loans.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily production and quality expectations to achieve monthly business goals and quality service levels
  • Perform second reviews of initial credit decisions to ensure accurate disposition and track relevant feedback
  • Manage, mentor and coach a team of underwriters, providing technical training and evaluation performance
  • Partner with internal and external Operation and Sales teams finding solutions and support for production goals

Requirements

  • 10+ years of single-family residential jumbo loan underwriting experience with a focus of a minimum 5+ years of portfolio underwriting of conventional jumbo loans
  • Strong knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing regulations and guidelines
  • Ability to effectively assess risk
  • Requires proficiency and in-depth knowledge of FNMA, FHLMC, HUD, and investor guidelines
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making
  • Strong analytic, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to work in a flexible and production-oriented environment

  • This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in conventional jumbo portfolio loan underwriting with both secondary review and historical loan signing authority.
  • You'll be responsible for evaluating loan documentation, assessing borrower creditworthiness, and ensuring compliance with investor and bank portfolio guidelines.
  • If you have a deep understanding of FNMA, FHLMC, HUD, and construction-related financials, and enjoy working in a fast-paced, risk-sensitive environment, we'd love to hear from you.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, mathematics or statistics preferred

Compensation

  • These discretionary target bonuses may be awarded semi-annually based upon your achievement of performance goals and targets.
