About the role

  • Knowing how travel, loyalty, or adjacent commerce ecosystems actually work, at the level of business model and customer behavior rather than just APIs, will accelerate your impact.
  • Deep expertise across all of it is not expected.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product outcomes for your teams, not just their delivery. You define what success looks like for the parts of the platform you own, set clear OKRs, and hold your teams to business results rather than sprint velocity.
  • Actively direct the data science team. Stay hands-on rather than delegating, and steer the team toward the data and model capabilities that power the AI-native commerce features you own.
  • Act as servant leader to cross-functional agile teams, with responsibility to mentor, manage, and lead your direct reports.
  • Identify, mentor, and grow senior development leads into development managers, strengthening the management layer beneath you.
  • You also bring a real point of view on building AI-native product features, not only using AI to write code.
  • We build the loyalty and travel booking platform behind some of the world's largest airlines and financial institutions.
  • The leader we want digs into what each client needs, then builds capabilities that serve many clients rather than one-off features for a single account.
  • Nimble and forward-thinking, we're building the future by challenging ourselves and demanding daily improvement.

Requirements

  • 5+ years leading software engineering teams in Agile delivery environments, with a track record of owning outcomes rather than just managing process.
  • You have built and shipped production software, and you retain enough technical depth to challenge architectural decisions, weigh engineering tradeoffs, and earn the respect of experienced developers.
  • Experience operating in a regulated compliance environment such as PCI DSS or SOC 2, where security and process discipline are non-negotiable.
  • You are comfortable owning product direction, partnering with Product Owners to shape what gets built and why, not just how fast it ships.
  • You delegate effectively and are detail-oriented when required.
  • You are inquisitive and eager to learn, always looking for better approaches and bringing an outside perspective to the team.
