Responsibilities
- Advanced Maintenance and Repairs: Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repair work on engines, transmissions, brakes, hydraulics, electrical systems, and other vehicle components.
- Perform root-cause analysis for recurring mechanical problems and relay this confidently and purposefully to supervisors.
- Support and Leadership: Assist Fleet Technician IIs and supervisors with major repairs and fleet-wide projects.
- Collaborate with the fleet team to ensure efficient workflow and task prioritization.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair activities in fleet management systems.
- Properly Document all repairs and parts used into fleet management software.
- Perform inspections to ensure vehicles comply with DOT, OSHA, and environmental standards.
- Perform additional tasks assigned to support fleet operations.
- Effective communication and mentoring skills to support team collaboration.
Requirements
- KEY COMPETENCIES Strong knowledge of vehicle systems, including diesel engines, hydraulics, brakes, and electrical components.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, schematics, and service manuals.
- 3-5 years of experience in heavy-duty vehicle maintenance and repair.
- Experience with hydraulic systems and electronic diagnostics.
- REQUIRED & DESIRED EXPERIENCE Required: High school diploma or GED.
Nice to have
- Technical certifications or vocational training.
- ASE certifications (or equivalent).
- CDL (Commercial Driver's License).
- Comfortable working in tight spaces, under vehicles, and in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to stand, kneel, and bend for extended periods.
- Work is performed in a maintenance shop and outdoor environments.
- Exposure to noise, odors, and hazardous materials.
- Schedule may include occasional overtime, emergency repairs, or weekend shifts.
Skills
- Use advanced diagnostic tools and software to identify issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, electronic control modules (ECMs), and related electronic systems.
