About the role

Focused Energy is a fusion energy startup with the goal of generating unlimited clean energy to responsibly meet future global demand.
With the use and commercialization of laser-induced inertial fusion, a clean and highly efficient power generation technology is coming within reach, suitable to ensure a secure and scalable future energy supply.
Your work will directly enable the transition from experimental physics to operational fusion energy infrastructure.

Electrical Engineering Support & Guidance: Provide day-to-day technical support to junior and mid-level engineers.
Review and guide work on: Electrical schematics, Power distribution designs, Installation concepts and layouts.
Promote best practices in electrical design and implementation.
Electrical Systems Design (Broad Scope): Support design and development of: Power systems (LV/MV, distribution, load balancing), Electrical installations across labs and facilities, Equipment-level electrical systems (laser, diagnostics, support systems), Ensure designs are practical, maintainable, and aligned to standards.
Electrical design standards (IEC, DIN VDE, etc.)
Support development of consistent electrical design approaches across projects
Support understanding of:
Installation & Commissioning Support:
In this role, you will own electrical design through its full engineering lifecycle - from early architecture through design, integration, commissioning, and operational readiness - ensuring that it evolves from R&D into a reliable, industrial-grade system for fusion power generation.
This role is focused on providing broad electrical engineering expertise, supporting junior engineers, and ensuring that electrical design, installation, and integration are delivered to a high standard across all projects.

5+ years of electrical engineering experience
Experience with safety systems and interlocks.
Experience mentoring or leading other more junior engineers.
Strong understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals, including: electrical circuits, power systems, and industrial electrical installations.
