About the role

  • This role involves hands-on work with BMS, EPMS, SCADA systems, PLCs, and other industrial controls to ensure reliable operation of critical systems like cooling, power distribution, and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of critical systems (e.g., chillers, pumps, power distribution) using PLCs and industrial control technologies.
  • Support the preparation and updating of HMI graphics and interfaces for system monitoring.
  • Maintain automated controls for fire safety and emergency shutdown procedures (ESOP).
  • xAI is seeking a Controls Technician to support the implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of control systems for our data centers and infrastructure.
  • You will collaborate with engineers to maintain automated controls, monitor performance, and respond to operational needs in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in a technical field (e.g., Controls Technology, Mechatronics, Automation, or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience as a technician working with industrial control systems.
  • Experience with Ignition SCADA or similar programming.
  • Familiarity with Siemens TIA Portal or equivalent PLC programming.
  • Ability to work extended periods standing, in tight quarters, and exposed to noise.
  • Ability to lift or carry 10-15lbs.

Skills

  • Proficiency in troubleshooting industrial equipment using IEC 61131-3 languages (e.g., ladder logic).
  • Experience with hardware from Siemens, SEL, Rockwell, or similar.
  • Basic knowledge of HMI development tools like Ignition.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a methodical approach.
  • Excellent documentation and communication abilities.
