About the role
- The Deckhand is responsible for assisting in the safe operation, maintenance, and upkeep of the tugboat and its equipment.
- The role requires physical endurance, teamwork, and adherence to safety protocols while performing various deck operations, including line handling, cargo operations, and vessel maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of the deck, hull, and superstructure.
- Cargo Handling & Support
- Watchkeeping & Navigation Support
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and perform physically demanding tasks.
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of vessel operations and maintenance.
- This is a non-liveaboard position, meaning crew members are not required to sleep onboard.
- Assist with loading and unloading parts, supplies, tugs materials as required.
Nice to have
- First Aid, Fire Prevention and Firefighting, Survival at Sea, CPR/First Aid Certification (preferred).
- Previous maritime or deckhand experience preferred but not required.
- Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) with necessary endorsements (preferred).
- Basic Safety training: First Aid, Fire Prevention and Firefighting, Survival at Sea, CPR/First Aid Certification (preferred).
