About the role
- This is an exciting opportunity to work on a highly visible, long-term rail and transportation initiative supporting one of the busiest transit networks in the country.
- T he ideal candidate is a collaborative and proactive professional who thrives in dynamic field environments and brings experience supporting large-scale public transportation, rail, or heavy civil construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Support the Resident Engineer in overseeing day-to-day construction activities on active transportation infrastructure projects.
- Monitor construction activities to verify compliance with contract documents, specifications, schedules, and quality requirements.
- Review and support RFIs, submittals, change orders, contractor reports, and construction documentation.
- Support environmental compliance efforts, mitigation planning, and regulatory requirements throughout project execution.
- Monitor contractor performance and support resolution of field issues, deficiencies, and corrective actions.
- Support implementation of project safety procedures and review contractor safety plans.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, meeting minutes, and project documentation.
- We deliver impactful water/wastewater, transportation, and public works projects for clients including NYCDDC, NYCDEP, and the Port Authority of NY & NJ.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience supporting transportation, rail, transit, tunnel, or heavy civil infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of construction management processes, project controls, field inspection, quality assurance, and contract administration.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software platforms.
- Must have prior experience supporting projects for New Jersey Transit or similar public transportation agencies.
- Experience with federally funded infrastructure programs is highly desirable.

Nice to have
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
- Familiarity with environmental compliance and regulatory requirements is a plus.
- EIT, NICET, OSHA certifications, or related industry credentials are preferred.
Compensation
- The anticipated compensation range for this position is $80 - $105 per hour. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, education, certifications, skills, and work location.
