About the role

  • We specialize in consulting, engineering, procurement and construction across the project lifecycle, with services extending through to operations and decommissioning.
  • In this role, you will work closely with on-site client operations and project stakeholders supporting the successful delivery of capital and operational projects at the Kitimat Smelter.
  • As a technically proficient Senior Project Engineer, you will be the primary technical liaison between the Project Management team, the Engineering disciplines, Procurement, and Construction.

Responsibilities

  • Project Delivery and Performance Deliver projects safely and in accordance with approved scope, budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams through all phases of the project lifecycle, from project identification and development through to commissioning and handover.
  • Stakeholder & Customer Management Build and maintain strong relationships with customer stakeholders, ensuring alignment on project objectives, priorities, and delivery strategies.
  • Provide trusted advice and leadership to stakeholders to improve project delivery outcomes and support capital planning initiatives.

  • Safety, Risk and Project Assurance Champion Safety in Design principles, ensuring risks are identified, assessed, and reduced to As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP).
  • Lead project risk management activities and ensure appropriate mitigation strategies are implemented throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Drive technical and project development decisions that optimize safety, operability, constructability, technical integrity, and lifecycle cost.
  • Lead interface management between engineering, procurement, operations, construction, and commissioning teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Support client stakeholders in identifying and developing projects that address safety, environmental, reliability, and operational improvement requirements.

Requirements

  • Extensive, progressive engineering and project execution experience, with at least Intermediate to Senior-level experience as a Project Engineer or similar role on large capital projects.
  • Proven experience managing technical scope within the Mining sector Strong understanding of project management principles, contracts, engineering workflows, and quality management systems.
  • Proven mentorship abilities.
  • Experience in an EPCM (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management) environment.
  • Experience leading a small team of junior engineers or designers.
  • Required: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Electrical) from an accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in British Columbia or the ability to obtain one.
