About the role
- Ensure the processing and posting of reinsurance ledger transactions for Assumed and Ceded from brokers, reinsurers and ceding companies.
- Prepare, review and ensure accuracy of journal entries and general ledger maintenance.
- Prepare and review financial statements to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance with accounting standards.
Responsibilities
- Manage reinsurance settlements, open recoverable/payable balances and unallocated/unsettled cash.
- Perform and monitor accounts and bank reconciliations, and aged balances.
- Support in managing the month/quarter/year-end clos processes.
- Manage financial reporting processes to ensure compliance with regulations and provide accurate information to the senior leadership and executive team.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Support automation, reporting enhancements, and system implementations.
- Identify process improvements and lead initiatives to streamline reinsurance accounting.
- Support the reinsurance accountants, mentor and train team members, promoting professional development.

Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in accounting within the re/insurance industry.
- Experience with assumed and ceded reinsurance is preferable.
- Proficiency in accounting software, MS Office: Excel, etc.

- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics or related field preferred.
