About the role
- it's about designing the infrastructure and interfaces that enable complex, multi-agent simulations for the world's most sophisticated organizations.
- We are looking for full-stack engineers who can bridge the gap between cutting-edge AI research and production-grade enterprise software.
- Pragmatic Shipping: Balance long-term technical architecture with the need to ship incrementally and learn from real-world usage.
Responsibilities
- Own the development lifecycle for new enterprise products, from initial design and backend services to user-facing components and APIs.
- Build and iterate on systems that drive customer workflows, ensuring they are reliable, performant, and scalable as we model human behavior at a global scale.
- Write clean, well-tested code and participate in rigorous code reviews to maintain high system quality and safety in production.
- Our hiring journey is designed to help both sides align on fit, working style, and expectations.
- End-to-End Ownership: Own the development lifecycle for new enterprise products, from initial design and backend services to user-facing components and APIs.
- System Evolution: Build and iterate on systems that drive customer workflows, ensuring they are reliable, performant, and scalable as we model human behavior at a global scale.
- Technical Excellence: Write clean, well-tested code and participate in rigorous code reviews to maintain high system quality and safety in production.

Requirements
- Full-Stack Proficiency: Strong command of TypeScript and React for the frontend, and proficiency in at least one backend language (e.g., Python, Go, Rust, or Node.js).
- Product Thinking: A track record of balancing technical excellence with a pragmatic approach to shipping, always keeping the customer's problem at the center of the solution.
- Systems Fundamentals: Experience with relational databases (e.g., Postgres/MySQL) and a solid understanding of distributed systems concepts.
- Adaptability: Proven ability to thrive in a fast-growing environment by navigating loosely defined tasks and managing competing priorities effectively.

Company info
- Pilots don't train with real passengers.
- Actors don't rehearse with real audiences.
- Yet, the most consequential decisions in society are often pushed straight to production.
- Simile is changing that.
- We have built the first AI simulation of society, populated by generative agents based on real humans.
- Our research pioneered the field of AI-based simulation, proving it is possible to model human behavior with high accuracy.
- Today, we are developing a Foundation Model to predict human behavior in any situation, at any scale.
- We are backed by $100M in funding led by Index Ventures, with participation from Hanabi, A*, Bain Capital Ventures, and AI visionaries including Andrej Karpathy, Fei-Fei Li, Adam D'Angelo, and Guillermo Rauch.
- Partner closely with product managers, designers, and external customers to translate complex human-behavior simulations into simple, usable interfaces.
- Product Collaboration: Partner closely with product managers, designers, and external customers to translate complex human-behavior simulations into simple, usable interfaces.
- We are happy to assist.
- You will design and scale the systems that allow customers to orchestrate thousands of generative agents, observe emergent behaviors, and derive actionable insights from simulated societies.
Equal opportunity
- Simile is an equal opportunity workplace.
- We welcome applicants of all backgrounds and identities, valuing an environment where everyone can contribute authentically.
- Accommodations: If you require support or reasonable accommodations during the application process due to a disability, please let us know.
