- PayPal, Inc. seeks Sr Software Engineer in New York, NY
- Contribute to the technicaI engineering roadmap by completing quality and thorough assessments of implementation alternatives and their associated trade offs and providing recommendations.
- Patricipate in project planning, estimation, and tracking to ensure the timely delivery of software components.
Responsibilities
- Job Duties: Serve as subject matter expert for the Payments Platform Engineering team, leading the design, implementation, and operational excellence of new software, features, and solutions.
- Drive architecture discussions, produce well-documented design docs, and participate in design and code reviews to ensure code is scalable, maintainable, and follows best practices.
- Own the performance and availability of the services and participate in on-call rotations to provide technical support.
- Develop automated tests and deliver high-quality software code to production within a short development cycle in the continuous integration and delivery environment.

Requirements
- Apache Spark - Large-scale data processing and analytics in distributed environments (1 year)
- Kafka - Real-time messaging and data streaming across distributed systems (1 year)
- RDBMS / SQL, Managing structured data and optimizing queries using relational databases (2 years)
- NoSQL - Working with distributed storage systems such as CockroachDB, Redis for scalable storage solutions (2 years)
- AWS - Cloud deployment, storage, and compute provisioning for high availability (1 year)
- SQS / RabbitMQ / Pulsar - Implementing asynchronous communication using queuing protocols (1 year)
- DevOps & Shell Scripting - Maintaining infrastructure as code, writing scripts for deployment, automation, and system operations (1 year)

- The base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring.
- Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus two years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
- Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus five years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

Compensation
- $189,592.00-300,500.00 per annum.
- Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
