About the role
- True Mechanical is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Estimator to join our team, focusing specifically on our Special Projects division.
- The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs for mechanical systems within these fast-paced and often unique projects, ensuring competitive and successful bids.
- Prepare and complete accurate cost estimates for TI, Renovation, and other special projects, typically ranging from $50,000 up to multimillion dollar values.
Responsibilities
- Effectively manage the tender process, including distributing documents and addendums to relevant sub-trades and suppliers for quotes.
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs for mechanical systems.
- Develop and maintain relationships with sub-trades, suppliers, and clients active in the market.
- Collaborate with project managers during the pre-construction phase and ensure smooth project handovers after award.
- Maintain estimating workbooks, databases, and historical data for project metrics.
Requirements
- Proficiency with AutoBid estimating software.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems (HVAC, Plumbing, Piping).
- Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Relevant post-secondary education or trade certification is an asset.

Nice to have
- Proven 3+ years of experience as an Estimator in the mechanical contracting industry, with specific experience in Special Projects strongly preferred.
Skills
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and time-management skills, capable of handling multiple bids simultaneously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with internal teams, clients, and vendors.
