About the role
- As a Maintenance Technician at Wheatland Tube at Zekelman Industries, Rochelle, IL, this role plays a critical part in ensuring the safe repair and rebuild of tube mill production equipment.
- Reporting to the supervisor, this position focuses on maximizing equipment quality, uptime, rate, and yield.
- This role is ideal for individuals with strong electrical aptitude, advanced troubleshooting skills, and the ability to diagnose and resolve both electrical and mechanical issues while maintaining strict adherence to safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform electrical maintenance on production equipment while following all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout protocols
- Perform breakdown repairs, preventive maintenance, and changeover tasks on production equipment
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with company policies and safety regulations
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and participate in problem-solving activities
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor

- Ability to communicate effectively in English and perform basic math calculations
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a heavy manufacturing environment, preferably in a maintenance role
- Proficiency with hand and power tools, precision measuring devices, and interpretation of technical drawings
- Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment
- Ability to pass job-related testing, an employment physical, and a post-offer drug screen
- Bend, twist, stoop, sit, kneel, crawl, and reach in all directions as required
- Operate powered industrial trucks, overhead cranes, and portable cranes as required

Nice to have
- High school diploma or equivalent, preferred
- apprenticeship, journeyman training, military service, or equivalent mechanical or electrical training preferred
