About the role

  • Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is looking for someone to join our Research & Development team as a Software Engineering Intern in Pullman Washington.
  • The ideal candidate will be able to work part‑time during the academic year and full‑time during the summer.

Responsibilities

  • Implementing firmware/software design.
  • Providing support to engineering staff as needed.
  • Practical knowledge of developing Microsoft Windows applications.

Requirements

  • You are a current student pursuing a degree in computer science or equivalent with two or more years of technical coursework completed.
  • You have programming experience using scripting languages, such as Python, JavaScript, Perl, Ruby.
  • You have strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
  • You have the ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
  • You have the ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.

Nice to have

  • At least one year of Cybersecurity course work or certifications.
  • Programming experience in C#, C++, Java or equivalent OO programming language.
  • Knowledge of computer networking and vulnerability scanning tools.
  • Experience using revision control and source code management systems such as Git, Mercurial, SVN, and Rational ClearCase.

Compensation

  • Data - $24.25 - $33.00 hourly
  • Our intern pay is determined based on the internship role (the work you would be doing) and your year in school (when you plan to graduate). Talk with your recruiter if you are curious about the rate for your year in school.
