About the role
- This position requires a deep understanding of propulsion engineering principles, including fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and combustion processes.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for leading complex projects, conducting detailed analyses, and ensuring the reliability and performance of propulsion systems.
- The Propulsion Engineer III will also be expected to stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, contribute to the development of technical standards, and mentor junior engineers.
Responsibilities
- The Propulsion Engineer III will play a critical role in the design, development, and testing of advanced propulsion systems for aerospace applications.
- This role involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers, to deliver innovative solutions that meet stringent performance and safety requirements.
- Under general direction, you will independently determine and develop approaches to solutions while serving as the owner of discrete technical packages as a Responsible Engineer (RE).
- We deliver mission-proven technologies to our customers that safeguard our nation, protect space-based assets and enable space exploration.
Requirements
- Requires bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree or master's +3 yrs experience).
- Typically, 5+ years of related experience.
- Expertise in Propulsion engineering.
- Experience managing discrete technical packages as a Responsible Engineer (RE).
- General knowledge of related disciplines.
- minimal travel required during non-test periods.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively are essential for this role.
- To conform to U.S. Government international trade regulations, applicant must be a U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State or U.S. Department of Commerce.

Nice to have
- Strong background in thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and combustion processes.
- Familiarity with propulsion system integration and performance optimization.
- Proficiency with propulsion system testing, in both test planning and test execution.
- Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) tools such as Abaqus or NASTRAN.
- Experience with system modeling software such as SINDA/FLUINT or Simscape.
- Experience with propulsion system design and analysis tools such as ANSYS Fluent, CFX, or similar CFD software.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to propulsion systems, such as NASA, FAA, or DoD standards.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, or C++ for simulation and data analysis.
Compensation
- $100,604.00 - $138,349.25
- Your actual base compensation will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness.
