About the role
- Column processes over $2 trillion in annual transaction volume for some of the most sophisticated tech companies and financial institutions in the world.
- Keeping that volume safe is one of the most consequential jobs in fintech.
- You'll turn a traditionally manual function into a scalable internal product, working directly with our senior leaders to shape how Column monitors, investigates, and governs risk at scale.
Responsibilities
- Own the product roadmap for financial crimes monitoring, analytics, workflow, and governance tooling - turning a traditionally manual and compliance-heavy function into a scalable internal product
- design the full process for rule development, testing, deployment, tuning, and model management
- Partner with risk teams, engineering, GTM, and business operations to design practical controls before new products or customer activity launch
- Work closely with our CEO, CCO, and General Counsel to shape adjacent risk workflows - and build toward a customer-facing program management solution over time
- Translate emerging risks, regulatory guidance, internal risk assessments, and observed trends into clear monitoring and tooling requirements; design the full process for rule development, testing, deployment, tuning, and model management
- For companies building financial technology and transforming the financial services space, the biggest bottleneck to their growth and innovation is often the underlying banks and infrastructure stack they rely on.
- We have spent our careers founding and scaling companies like Plaid, Square, Meta, Blend, and Affirm, and have seen this problem firsthand - builders and developers needing to partner with traditional banks, and creating API and abstraction layers over the patchwork that is the bank, its core, and many other vendors.

Requirements
- 4+ years in a high agency, fast moving, high intellect role.
- Strong product judgment: the ability to turn ambiguous problems into clear requirements and shipped solutions
- Ability to get technical very quickly.
- We participate in the E-Verify program in certain locations as required by law.

- Familiarity with banking and fintech preferred but not required
Compensation
- Compensation packages at Column include base salary, equity, and benefits.
- New hire offers are made based on a candidate's experience, expertise, geographic location, and internal pay equity relative to peers.
- The annual base salary range for this position is $140,000 - $220,000 + equity.
