About the role
- Work Shift: Day - 8 Hour (United States of America)The Financial Counselor is responsible for evaluating and processing Financial Assistance Applications for medical services.
- The financial counselor provides clarity for patients regarding their financial responsibilities, collections, assistance and/or resources available to assist patients with payment of their bills.
- Acts as backup in office for Surgery Scheduling, Insurance Verification and Registration.
Responsibilities
- Supports the Surgery Center's philosophy, polices, procedures and goals.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- One (1) year experience in hospital registration, business office or financial environment.
- Required Certification/Registration/Licensure:
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- A. Education & Training:
- Associates Degree in Healthcare, Business, or Finance. Experience may qualify in lieu of education requirement.
- B. Experience:
- One (1) year experience in hospital registration, business office or financial environment. Education & Training requirement may qualify in lieu of experience.
- C. Required Certification/Registration/Licensure:
- D. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Effective analytical skills when multitasking and dealing with the technical aspects in the role of Financial Counselor. The Financial Counselor needs to be able to plan, prioritize and organize work load in a time sensitive environment. Must be able to work effectively and efficiently, with the patient and or family members explaining the processes and procedures, associated with the Financial Assistance application and any and all other resources that are available. Is adaptable and comfortable in an environment that deals with constant change. Shows enthusiasm, commitment, and dedication to the patient centered mission statement at Houston Healthcare.
