- We work together in the New York City area, with hybrid flexibility.
- Everyone on the team spends time with customers!
- Expect some travel to customer sites to watch officers use what you built, then fix what's wrong.
Responsibilities
- Own product design end-to-end: research, flows, wireframes, high-fidelity UI, and prototyping across mobile and desktop.
- Lead customer research and discovery - plan it, run it in the field, and turn it into product decisions.
- Design for the realities of police work: one-handed use, interrupted sessions, low light, high stress, and zero patience for friction.
- Partner with engineering to ship - your designs go to production, not to a deck.
- Build the design foundation the company will grow on: patterns, components, and the standard for what good means here.
- This role is for someone who can own design end-to-end - research, flows, wireframes, high-fidelity UI, and prototypes - and drive from ambiguity to shipped product.

Requirements
- Experience leading customer research and discovery while a product was still finding product-market fit.
- Deep experience designing mobile apps that shipped and that people actually use.
- Range - from workflow-level design down to pixel-level UI, and the judgment to know which a problem needs.
- Fluency with modern AI-powered design tools and a genuinely fast workflow.
- Comfort working directly with founders, engineers, and frontline users - no design org, no handoff process.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Twelve months in:
- Officers describe the product as "easy" - the highest compliment this user base gives.
- Field research is a running engine that visibly shapes the roadmap.
- Engineers build faster because your designs answer questions before they're asked.
- The design foundation you built scales cleanly as the team and product grow.
