About the role
- Under the oversight of the Plant Supervisor, the Data Services Technician is responsible for the installation and maintenance of telecommunications services, cabling, customer premise equipment (CPE), field equipment and terminals.
- Responsibilities extend to troubleshooting, isolating, and performing the necessary repairs on defective equipment in the network.
- Coordinates with other departments on service installations and updates changes for company records (billing, facility, etc.).

- Persuade, gain cooperation and acceptance of ideas or collaborate on significant projects.
- Cabling: Install, repair and maintain copper or fiber cables in an aerial or buried application and terminate cables using industry standards.

Requirements
- b) A minimum of 2 years of work experience performing telecommunications data services related functions.
- Technical School, a 2-year / associate degree (in Electronics, Telecommunications, Radio, and/or Construction).
- 1) Information Technology Related Knowledge: Fundamental working knowledge of networking concepts, practices and procedures and ability to apply in varied situations.

- Must be able to see patterns and trends and draw conclusions from observations across various situations.
- At an intermediate level, be proficient with organizing the planning process.
- Anticipate problems that may impede work.
- Communicates changes and progress.
- At an advanced level, be proficient with PC based systems, word processing and data entry tools.
- Creates moderate-to-complex documents.
- Fundamental knowledge of programing.
- Conducts intermediate level of systems analyses and troubleshoots issues.
