About the role

  • Product Development - As determined by Corporate Planning and Engineering Manager participate in development projects for the expansion and improvement of existing products and new products.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises Design Engineering Mechanical Designers and Cad Technicians
  • Delegates and prioritizes departmental Mechanical Design and Cad assignments
  • Provides over site in collaboration with Engineering Manager, Lead Unit Design Engineer and Design Engineers.
  • Develops and documents processes in collaboration with Engineering Manager and Lead Unit Design Engineer
  • Department Focus The Design Engineering function supports business needs and continuous improvement efforts through appropriate technical product and engineering principle development of employees and management.

Requirements

  • Associates degree and work experience (one year min) in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Areas of proficiency should include:
  • or equivalent work experience (4 years min) demonstrating competency in mechanical machinery design. The successful candidate will be able to apply individual creativity, advanced drafting/modeling techniques and a thorough knowledge of practical fabrication and machining techniques to create complex mechanical designs and execute layouts of simple and complex products and equipment. Areas of proficiency should include:
  • Proficient in the use of computers and cad software with emphasis on SolidWorks.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their design uses.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles involved in the production of mechanical and electromechanical models and drawings.
  • Skilled in verbal and written communication, composition and grammar.
  • Proficient mathematical skills in arithmetic, geometry, algebra and other computation tools that support the designer skills.
  • Ability to respond and adjust to rapidly changing priorities, select appropriate resolution paths either independently or in consultation with Design Engineer.
  • Skilled in the layout and interface of technical components, detail instructions, parts and complex assemblies requiring fabrication, machining or assembly.
  • Able to apply identified industry standards routinely in assigned work.
