About the role

  • The Circulation Manager will oversee print circulation operations, subscriber retention, revenue optimization, and churn reduction while driving data- informed audience growth initiatives across multiple channels.
  • Utilize audience data and insights to make data-informed decisions that influence audience growth and increase overall audience engagement across the portfolio.
  • Plan and execute campaigns to acquire new and retain current subscribers, using list segmenting and behavioral targeting strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of print circulation for a large print brand with a focus on subscriber retention and proactive churn reduction strategies.
  • Develop test plans, trial offers, and promotional packages. Monitor performance results for multiple customer acquisition channels and lifecycle campaigns, optimizing based on measurable outcomes.
  • Own the complete workflow of a contact from their initial point of conversion to their success or failure in ongoing marketing, engagement, and opt-in campaigns.
  • Develop and execute plans and strategies that grow our audience and drive traffic and engagement to editorial and advertiser-supported content, programs, and events.
  • Develop test plans, trial offers, and promotional packages.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in circulation management, audience development, or digital/print marketing, ideally within a media, publishing, B2B or B2C environment.
  • Experience in/knowledge of the scientific industry is an asset.
  • Experience & Skills:
  • Experience with web analytics platforms (Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics) and data visualization tools to monitor audience KPIs and campaign performance.
  • Hands-on experience with social media management
  • familiarity with emerging platforms and growth tactics.
  • Experience with A/B testing and conversion rate optimization
  • equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret audience data and translate insights into actionable strategies that drive measurable growth.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
  • ability to manage multiple brands and campaigns simultaneously in a fast-paced, remote environment.

Skills

  • Expert working knowledge of subscription fulfillment software (Omeda, CDS).
  • Experience with e-mail marketing platforms and list segmentation best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with social media management; familiarity with emerging platforms and growth tactics.
  • Direct experience both executing and managing paid advertising efforts.
  • Advanced knowledge of print fulfillment workflows, subscriber database management, subscription billing cycles, and postal regulations.

Compensation

  • The expected salary range for this position is $70,000-$90,000 CAD per year, commensurate with experience.
  • This range reflects benchmarked compensation for a Circulation Manager in the Canadian media and publishing sector.
