About the role
- The Field Civil Superintendent is responsible for the direct on-site supervision and execution of one or more civil construction projects as assigned.
- This position oversees all phases of project construction and ensures successful completion within established budget, schedule, and quality expectations.
- Ensure on-site safety compliance for all personnel in accordance with company safety policies, site-specific safety plans, and OSHA regulations.
Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise field personnel, including craft employees, engineers, support staff, and subcontractors.
- Document daily project activities, including production updates, delays, conflicts, owner and subcontractor interactions, safety compliance, and environmental or quality concerns.
- Ensure all construction activities are performed in accordance with company policies, contract documents, and project specifications.
- Maintain current project schedules and completion documentation and communicate project status updates regularly to the Project Manager.
- Prepare and maintain reports related to project progress, production, and cost tracking.
- Work in a constant state of alertness and maintain a safe work environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field required
- equivalent experience and applicable skills may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in field management within the civil construction industry required.
- Valid state driver's license and ability to qualify under the Company's driving policy required.
- Ability to pass a drug, driving, and background screening.
- Brice Highway operates in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment that requires a high degree of efficiency, adaptability, and effective performance.
- Flexibility regarding schedules, project changes, and occasional overtime may be required to provide immediate field support or meet project deadlines.
- Collaborate with the Estimator, Project Manager, and Project Engineers to plan and coordinate all activities required for successful project execution.
Nice to have
- USACE CQM certification and Resident Management System (RMS) experience preferred.
- OSHA 30 certification required
Skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of project scheduling, subcontract administration, submittals, quality control, and safety management.
- Technical understanding of civil construction methods, practices, procedures, and field operations.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and adjust priorities and schedules to meet project goals.
- Strong self-motivation and work ethics with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
- Ability to remain productive and effective in high-pressure work environments.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and forecasting skills with the ability to make sound business decisions.
- Ability to actively listen, communicate effectively, and provide high-quality customer service.
