About the role

  • The Miscellaneous Metals Shop Foreman is responsible for supervising, coordinating, and supporting daily fabrication activities in a miscellaneous metals shop.
  • This role ensures fabrication work is completed safely, efficiently, accurately, and on schedule while maintaining quality standards and customer expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily production meetings.
  • Train, mentor, and support shop employees.
  • Maintain accountability for attendance, performance, and work quality.
  • Maintain high workmanship and quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient fabrication shop.
  • Maintain inventory of consumables and commonly used shop supplies.
  • Maintain regular communication with Project Manager/Superintendent regarding production status.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a shop foreman, lead fabricator, or supervisor in a structural steel or miscellaneous metals fabrication shop.
  • Ability to read and interpret structural and miscellaneous steel fabrication drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of fabrication processes, welding procedures, layout, fit-up, and quality requirements.
  • Experience supervising welders, fitters, laborers, fabricators, and machine operators.
  • Ability to prioritize production schedules and adjust to changing project needs.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in an industrial fabrication environment.

Nice to have

  • Custom fabricated assemblies
  • Welding knowledge, including MIG, FCAW, and SMAW
  • GTAW experience is a plus.

Skills

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Blueprint and fabrication drawing reading.
  • Shop math, layout, fit-up, and quality control.
  • Welding knowledge, including MIG, FCAW, and SMAW; GTAW experience is a plus.
  • Time management, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and production tracking software.
