  • AMS is seeking a passionate and data-driven Middle School Humanities Teacher (Grades 5-8) to join our team at the Nellis Campus in Las Vegas for the 2026-2027 school year.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned humanities instruction aligned with AMS curriculum and Nevada Academic Content Standards.
  • Differentiate instruction to support students performing above and below grade level.
  • Develop students' critical thinking, writing, reading comprehension, and analytical reasoning skills.
  • Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and high-expectations classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams, instructional coaches, and school leadership to strengthen instructional practices.
  • Use student performance data to support instructional improvement and targeted interventions.
  • The Middle School Humanities Teacher is responsible for delivering rigorous, standards-aligned instruction in English Language Arts, reading, writing, and social studies, helping scholars develop strong literacy, critical thinking, and analytical skills.

Requirements

  • Successfully pass required background checks in accordance with Nevada state requirements
  • Minimum Qualifications

Nice to have

  • Previous experience teaching middle school humanities (grades 5-8)
  • Experience working in Title I or high-need school environments
  • Experience supporting English Language Learners (ELLs)
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred
  • Ongoing professional development and instructional coaching
  • Opportunities for leadership growth within a growing multi-state network

Skills

  • Teach core subjects including English Language Arts, reading comprehension, writing, and social studies.
  • Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and guide instructional planning.
  • Implement PBIS and proactive classroom management strategies.
  • Support students' academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development.
  • Encourage student voice, discussion, and engagement in learning.
  • Participate in weekly professional development and professional learning communities (PLCs).
  • Contribute to school-wide systems focused on student achievement and continuous improvement.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and academic expectations.
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences and maintain strong home-school partnerships.
  • Support family engagement initiatives that promote student success.

Compensation

  • Range: $54,000 - $60,813 annually (DOE)
