About the role
- This is a hands-on, player-coach role for an experienced engineer who enjoys balancing software development, technical leadership, architecture, and mentorship.
- The ideal candidate brings a strong combination of healthcare technology experience, software architecture expertise, and practical engineering leadership.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the VP of Technology & Data Analytics to influence architecture decisions, platform strategy, and technical direction.
- Lead architectural design reviews across Salud's growing application portfolio.
Requirements
- 3+ years leading projects, mentoring engineers, or influencing technical direction across teams.
- Strong hands-on software development experience using Python.
- Experience designing and integrating complex data workflows and external system integrations.
- Experience working with cloud infrastructure and modern deployment practices.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, scalability, security, observability, and operational excellence.
- Experience working with PostgreSQL or other relational databases in production environments.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Experience integrating claims, EMR, pharmacy, lab, and payer datasets.
- Experience with Azure cloud infrastructure and modern DevOps practices.
- Experience with FastAPI, Flask, React, Next.js, Node.js, or similar modern application frameworks.
- Experience supporting multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
- Experience leading distributed engineering teams across multiple time zones.
- Exposure to Databricks, dbt, Airflow, or modern data platform tooling.
- Experience helping scale engineering organizations from early-stage growth through operational maturity.
- What Success Looks Like
Compensation
- $180 - 200K base salary targeted at Principal-level engineering talent.

- Design and build backend services, APIs, orchestration layers, workflow automation systems, and healthcare data integrations.

- Build and maintain integrations across EMRs, claims systems, payer data, and operational healthcare platforms.
