Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end deal execution: opportunity scoping, term sheet development, negotiation, and close
- Build and maintain senior relationships across functions within pharma and biotech partner organizations
- Develop and refine the strategic roadmap for Illumina's genomics and target discovery services using large-scale human genetics and genomics datasets
- BioInsight is Illumina's newest business unit, purpose-built to deliver deeper biological insights from large-scale multiomic data.
- As the industry shifts towards genetics and AI-first drug discovery, BioInsight is building the partnerships that translate multiomic insight into therapeutic impact.
- This role requires scientific fluency across the drug discovery continuum and the commercial acumen to translate that fluency into partnerships that create durable value for both sides.
- We also have several Employee Resource Groups (ERG) that deliver career development experiences, increase cultural awareness, and offer opportunities to engage in social responsibility.
Requirements
- Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 15 years of related experience, with 7+ years of Management experience.
- 7+ years of experience in business development including revenue growth performance
- Demonstrated deal track record - candidates must be prepared to discuss specific transactions, their role, and clear outcomes
- Familiarity with how genomic and functional datasets are applied across early discovery, target validation, translational research, and clinical development
- Ability to influence across the organization at all levels
- Ability to work remotely
- Experience in one or more of the following in a research, commercial or business development context: population genomics, real-world evidence, functional genomics
- The candidate should have experience originating, structuring, and closing strategic partnerships with pharma and biotech companies and have established relationships to drive deal funnel activity.
- BA/BS in Genomics, Molecular Biology, or a related life sciences field
- Established network within pharma and/or biotech
- Willingness to travel up to 30%
Compensation
- The estimated base salary range for the Associate Director, Business Development, BioInsight – AI, Multiomics & Drug Discovery role based in the United States of America is: $170,600 - $255,800.
