About the role
- We are looking for a Regulatory and Product Counsel to join our legal and compliance team.
- This is a high-impact role for a lawyer who wants to be at the center of a fast-growing fintech-advising on product development, supporting our compliance management system (CMS), and helping navigate an evolving regulatory landscape.
Responsibilities
- Support all aspects of the compliance management system (CMS), including policies and procedures, training, monitoring, and corrective action
- Support licensing portfolio management, including tracking deadlines, coordinating renewals, and preparing regulatory filings
- Assist with internal and external audits and regulatory examinations, including document preparation and response coordination
- Liaise with our Partner Bank on compliance-related matters and communicate effectively with Partner Bank stakeholders
Requirements
- 3+ years of regulatory legal experience, including time at a law firm, regulatory agency, financial institution, or in-house at a fintech or financial services company
- Substantive knowledge of consumer financial protection laws and regulations (e.g., TILA, EFTA, ECOA, UDAAP, state lending laws)
- Experience advising on product or business initiatives in a regulated environment
- Familiarity with compliance management systems and their core components
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, practical guidance
- If you are based in NYC, you'll be expected to be in the office 3- Days a week.
Nice to have
- Experience with state money transmission or lending licensing, partner bank relationships, or third-party risk management frameworks
Compensation
- The annual base salary for this role is $160,000 and $180,000.
- The base pay for this role is determined using many factors, such as education, skills and experience and is reflective of Clair Series stage and size.
- Base pay is only one part of Clair's competitive total compensation package which includes equity, benefits and additional perks.
- The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
