About the role

  • Stepping into a senior finance leadership role at a privately held international importer and distributor with a complex supply chain and inventory footprint, this position reports directly to the CEO and commands broad oversight across finance, accounting, treasury, human resources, IT, and risk management.
  • The successful candidate will lead financial reporting, working capital optimization, and ERP system strategy within a company known for its premium food product portfolio serving North American markets.
  • This role demands a seasoned controller or finance director with deep experience in import, wholesale distribution, or manufacturing environments, fluent in managing multi-faceted financial operations and technology platforms such as NetSuite, SAP, or Dynamics 365.

Responsibilities

  • Direct treasury functions including cash flow management, working capital cycles, trade financing instruments like Letters of Credit, and banking relationships to optimize liquidity and credit utilization.
  • Lead the preparation and review of monthly financial statements, product and customer margin analyses, and long-term profitability forecasts, ensuring compliance with audit standards and GAAP.
  • Manage ERP, Warehouse Management, and Supply Chain Management systems strategy, driving system enhancements, internal controls, and user adoption of business intelligence tools.
  • Coordinate internal and external audit processes to safeguard financial integrity and support regulatory and tax compliance efforts.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional teams including accounting, human resources, IT, and risk management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of progressive financial leadership experience, including at least 3 years within import, wholesale distribution, manufacturing, or consumer products sectors.
  • Proven track record as a Controller or senior finance leader with strong expertise in treasury, working capital management, foreign exchange risk, and audit oversight.
  • Hands-on experience leading ERP implementations or significant system enhancements, preferably with NetSuite, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics 365, or comparable platforms.
  • Experience with complex landed cost accounting and inventory reporting tools.
