About the role

  • This position is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, inspections and basic repairs on utility vehicles and industrial equipment.
  • Includes, but is not limited to generators, forklifts, aerial equipment, cranes, amphibious equipment, off- road digging equipment, passenger cars, pickup trucks, SUV's, medium and heavy trucks, and trailers.
  • Maintenance operations may take place in the garage or at field locations during various work schedules depending on business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Performs preventative maintenance (PM) inspections on light & medium duty vehicles/equipment and assists higher classification of technicians with PM's on all vehicles and equipment.
  • Performs diagnostics and repairs on light and medium vehicles, (gas & diesel) forklifts, trailers and powered equipment.
  • Performs hydraulic brake systems and component repairs.

Requirements

  • Two-year associate degree or certificate in auto, diesel, or heavy equipment mechanics from a vocational school
  • Must be able to respond to assigned operations complex within 45 minutes *
  • Performs required State emission inspections.
  • Maintains the appropriate level of technical competence required to diagnose and repair vehicles/equipment.
  • Basic/Required Qualifications:
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must be able to obtain "CDL Class A" driver's license within a designated (120 days) timeframe
  • Must be able to respond to emergency situations
  • Must be able to stand and walk on concrete surface for extended periods of time

  • This position contains a weight restriction of 275 pounds as an essential function of the job.
  • The purpose of this restriction is to ensure that all weight rated equipment is used in an appropriate and safe manner within maximum allowed weight loading.
