About the role

  • The preceptor will demonstrate competency in the department by following policies and procedures.
  • Participates actively in clinical education activities, including orientation of new employees and teaching student nurses.
  • Must meet educational preparation or other qualifications within specified time frames as determined/outlined by specific department policy.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the preceptee to ensure that all orientation documentation and checklists are completed within the designated orientation period.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Required for All Jobs
  • Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
  • Have successfully completed Stormont Vail preceptor course training. Required

Skills

  • No Corrective Actions at warning or above. (Required proficiency)
  • Must be an FTE status (no PRN). (Required proficiency)
  • Registered Nurse
  • KSBN Required
  • Basic Life Support
  • BLS Required
  • Additional certification may be required for certain patient care settings or populations.

Compensation

  • Maintain annual preceptor competency

  • Collaborate with the Nurse Manager or designee to evaluate progress, revise goals and update learning plan as appropriate.

  • Complies with all policies, standards, mandatory training and requirements of Stormont Vail Health
