Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all quality functions for the Huron facility, including welding, machining, fabrication, and assembly operations
- Develop and implement quality plans, control plans, inspection methods, and control strategies for manufacturing processes
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action (RCCA) for quality issues, including weld defects and machining nonconformances
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce scrap, rework, and cost of poor quality (COPQ)
- Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to improve product quality and process capability
- Lead internal and external audits, including customer and regulatory audits
- Develop, coach, and lead the quality team, including inspectors, technicians, and engineers
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience in quality management within a manufacturing environment
- Strong working knowledge of welding processes and AWS D1.1 standards
- Experience with machine shop quality, including inspection techniques, GD&T, and precision measurement tools
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Regular presence on the shop floor required
- Use of PPE including safety glasses, steel-toe shoes, hearing protection, and other required equipment
- occasional travel may be required for supplier visits, training, or audits
- Demonstrated experience leading root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
Nice to have
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent welding certification
- Experience in heavy equipment, utility equipment, or truck body manufacturing
- Certification in Quality (CQE, Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt)
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar Quality Management Systems
- Experience with robotic welding and automated machining processes
- Strong expertise in welding and machining quality systems and processes
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and weld symbols
- Effective leadership and team development skills
Compensation
- The salary range for this position is $108,000 to $125,000 annually.
- Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.
- In addition to a base salary, this position is eligible for a performance bonus.
