About the role

  • The PSC engages students in this self-assessment process to ensure that students are a good fit for the program and profession.
  • The PSC communicates with other teams within the department and other university departments to facilitate collaboration, as well.
  • The candidate is to be both professional and graceful while handling multiple projects and interacting with students.

Responsibilities

  • The Program Support Coordinator (PSC) assists in processing applications to the BSSW and MSW programs and facilitates the gatekeeping process to help ensure that students have a thorough understanding of the profession of social work.
  • The Program Support Coordinator provides administrative support for the School of Behavioral Sciences.
  • The Program Support Coordinator is supervised by various supervisors depending on the department.
  • Developing and maintaining the admissions, gatekeeping, and tracking systems; assisting applicants; participating in student interviews to determine readiness for a professional social work program; and advising students to support them through the program are key aspects of the PSC's role.

Requirements

  • Use of one's personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) is required for travel in the performance of the essential functions of this position.
  • Proof of a valid Virginia driver's license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.
  • The candidate must have strong organizational skills and be calm and positive in difficult situations.
  • Education and Experience

Nice to have

  • Bachelor's degree, plus 2 years of administrative experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent interviewing skills
  • Master's degree plus 2 or more years of administrative experience
  • Experience in the social work or human services profession
